How About an Edible Cookie Dough Recipe + Facts About Peanut Butter & Almond Butter

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

Hey! I hope you are having an amazing day!

I'm posting an edible cookie dough recipe and I will mention some facts and differences between almond and peanut butter.

I know you might be wondering whether you should be buying almond butter instead of peanut butter... Have you thought about this?

I perceive that almond butter has a better reputation than peanut butter, which influences on the decision to choose almond butter over peanut butter even when it's more expensive.

To solve this mystery, let's break it down into the nutrients each nut butter provides us. This way we can know which one to buy!

Almond Butter:

  • Higher in monousaturated fatty acids

  • Higher in vitamin E

  • Higher in iron

  • More expensive

Peanut Butter:

  • Higher in protein

  • Cheaper (even high quality brands)

  • Contains monounsaturated fatty acids as well

  • Has vitamin E also in lower quantities than almond butter

Both of them can be high in added sugars, added oils and high fructose corn syrup. This is why I recommend you check the ingredients to verify what the nut butters are actually made of.

One down side of almond butter is that when you buy a high quality brand, they tend to be more expensive, while this is not an issue with peanut butter.

Checking the nutrition profile of each, they are both very similar. The main difference is, the price. If you do not have to worry so much about keeping yourself within a budget and can afford a good quality almond butter you can choose that one, but if you don't, go for the peanut butter.

Bottom line here is to check your budget and the ingredients in order to make the best choice. Since they have a very similar nutrition profile, you won't be missing out on many nutrients if you choose peanut butter over almond butter. Like I mentioned before, check for added ingredients like sugar and other oils.

The reason why I mention the added oils, is because often times I check the ingredients in several brands of nut butters and they have palm, canola or sunflower oil. Nut butters are higher in fat because nuts are made out of fat and having extra oil added to them will increase the calories and grams of fat per serving. Go for the brands that are made out of roasted peanuts or almonds. You will have to stir them more when you open the container but you will ensure that you won't have an excessive amount of sugars or added oils.

Hope this information is useful!

Now, let's make the delish edible cookie dough, shall we?
